This was the reason for my thread. Glad I resisted the temptation. I now have another £100 that I can put towards (hopefully) a guitar I do actually want

I went through a phase of buying used guitars just because I felt sorry for them, some of them look so forlorn hanging there on a shop wall. 

My wife once dropped me off in Cardiff while she went to run an errand for half an hour, when she came back I had bought a brand new discontinued stock Tanglewood sort of Ernie Ball type thing for sixty quid. 

She just raised her eyebrows, but to be fair it just sounded and played well and I did about four grand's worth of gigs with it before giving to a keen beginner.

before teiscos and 60s japs freaks got collectible i bought a few (four maybe) that i liked (all less than £50) for looks with the intention of making them playable.

fortunately for me i am quite lazy and timid about woodwork, so i never got around to doing anythng to them. fortunate, because by the time i finally decided they were decorative clutter not being played and decided to sell, i probably got double back on all of them. neat.
