Still the cull must continue.

First up, a Fender (MiM) Classic 50’s Strat in Surf Green.
Alder body, poly finish. 7.25” radius, tinted maple neck, slight ‘V’ shaped. 21 frets etc etc.
Electrics are as standard, CTS pots.
Comes with a slightly padded gig bag, trem arm included.
The single ply pickguard has been replaced with a pearloid one (original included in the bag).

It’s in good condition bar a scratch to the upper horn on the front of the guitar, it’s not that obvious but you can feel it when you run your fingernails over it.

Ive already got a maple necked strat and really don’t need another.

£350

Secondly a Feline Explorer, built back in 1996 (I think!) set neck, single piece Brazilian Mahogany body, gotoh hardware. It also has a SiMS LED neck with illuminated side dots and twelfth fret cats eyes.

Weight 10.8lbs

Neck pickup is a Gibson Ceramic (can’t remember the model number) and the bridge is the first Oil City Scrapyard Dog pickup produced s/n:00010 with a letter confirming this from Ash.

Incredible sounding and playing guitar, great sustain and plays really nicely.
It’s in good condition for a twenty year old guitar, the main thing is a small chip in the paint on the rear horn.
It balances well on a strap (needs to be a wide one though or it’ll cut you in half!)

Always fancied a hand built Feline?
here’s one at a price you aren’t going to lose any sleep over, well, relatively.
There’s no fretwear, and I’ve seen 12 month old guitars in much worse condition.

£400 (trades considered) gig bag included

Do the LEDs in the neck impact the ability to use the truss rod?

I wouldn’t have thought so, it’s a professional install by sims led, they do these all the time.

Wouldn’t be a market for it if it negatively impacted the function of the guitar.

Ive never had to adjust it though!

Nice!  I think somebody should get the Feline and also one of the Bad Cat amps where the front lights up with a cat's eye (if I recall correctly), that would be an interesting pairing!

That’s exactly how my mind works too!

And also how I end up with stuff I don’t really need.

Check out Paul Stanley’s Hamer Explorer.

Thats what this is similar to and, I think, the inspiration behind the build.

So it is, kinda exactly like an explorer, just not the one you might be used to!

Damn, just a bit too far on this occasion or I'd have had the Feline in an instant.

I built 2 - one had the split pearl/abalone/pearl inlays and this is the other one (late 1996/early 97)

Here's Megadeth's Marty Friedman giving one a try out

  • Well I am the lucky new owner of the feline, such a great guitar although it's heavier than Thor's hammer. I just want to thank Andy for being a delightful and gracious host! He's a total gear enthusiast and mean that in the nicest way, the explorer gone to an appreciative home mate, thank you!

Great to meet you too Nick, you’re most welcome, great chops and I’m happy the guitars found it’s forever home.

Can’t wait to see it with tiger stripes!
