when he plays an early 1950s tele through an early 1950s amp and it sounds identical to anything you would hear typical pub player play now, it's impossible to deny that a once so-called rebellious 'rock-and-roll/blues' movement has petrified into a species of heritage tradition totally estranged from its once revolutionary roots.

eg. to put it in perspective: 1952 to 2017 = 65 years. if you had been playing popular stuff from the 1880s in 1952 (65 years) you would seem to be a bit of an out of touch traditionalist, on some level.
