If all of the members of this forum were laid end-to-end I wouldn't be in the least surprised.

If light is sent through two slits and if you observe which of the two slits it comes through, it behaves like a particle.
If you look where it lands beyond the slits, it behaves like a wave.
But even weirder, if you wait for it to pass through the slits and then look, it will force the light to have passed through one slit or the other.
Basically, the future can affect the past.

The transfer 'tattoos' that you will have rubbed onto yourself as a kid started life in 1930s America and were soon called 'Cockamamie' tattoos. Cockamamie now coming to mean and idea or action that is transient and without authentic merit.

Modem is short for modulation/demodulation. I'm embarrased I didn't know that.
This is absurd.  You don’t know what you’re talking about.  It warrants combat.

The reason yew trees are common in graveyards is they are toxic to grazing animals so planted to discourage them.

On Simplex locks, it doesn't matter what order you put numbers/letters in. Press C to clear and try it.
Which is why they are generally easy to crack, without resorting to trying every combination.
We have a bunch of them at work, I amaze people regularly by putting the numbers in using different combinations.
If you twist the handle hard enough you can feel the difference in stiffness of some of the buttons. Pressing the stiffest one, then repeating means you can generally open it within a minute without knowing the code. They're not very secure.

I have visions now of cows grazing contentedly fifty foot up an oak tree.

I was thinking about Viscount biscuits today. Eric Jr was reading me something in the news about the royal family and he mentioned Viscount Severn ( eleventh in line to the throne) which he pronounced to rhyme with discount heaven. I said it's like Viscount biscuits but he didn’t know what I was talking about.

When I'm losing weight, my tits disappear before my chins. Actually it's back fat first, then tits, then chins.

Is that because once they go, you've nothing to play with so you go out running? (sorry couldn't resist, no insult meant)  ;)

Oh, it get's wierder than that. If you set up the experiment to only let single photon's through (possible, but tricky) - in other words particles of light - when all the photon's are summed up on the detector screen a pattern emerges. And this pattern is what's known as an interference pattern - in other words something that only occurs with waves....... Pretty much the best way of describing this phenomenon came from Richard Feynman who suggested that each photon went through *every* possible path at the same time, and interfered with itself (no sniggering at the back!).

    Quantum is freaky.
