NGD, big, shiny, but confused a bit.

What's Hot
Got an a Epiphone ES 295 premium off a collector acquaintance yesterday. Mint condition, probably never even been restrung, but stamped faintly on rear of headstock is ‘USED’ and last 2 digits on orange label serial number have been black markered out. He recalls it going back to shop/epiphone for something but can’t remember what so I’m intrigued by the stamp. There’s nothing untoward. A wonderful guitar, this weekend I’ll be pretending to be Scotty Moore!

  • nice, but I'd lose the P90s and the Bigsby ;)
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself

BTW "Used" normally means a factory second (blemish etc that doesn't pass QC) or a refurb that's gone back to the factory.

If it looks good, feels nice to play and sounds good then there's nothing to worry about

The older I get, the more P90s sound better! The pick up of rock n roll!

Plays great too. Loud acoustically too, but sounds good unlike some hollowbobodies.

    Fixed that for you
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

Even I liked that shergold and I am indifferent about bass guitars

  • IIRC Epis that don't make the grade and end up with a used strap go to a specialist who refurbs them. They often end up as better guitars as a result. I wouldn't worry about the stamp one bit. Enjoy the guitar! HNGD
