has anyone gigged their terror in a rock band sitch successfully - not from choice but "just in case" - it's only 20w and my gut feeling is that 30w would be betterer

not miked - we only have vocal PA although could mike up if desperate I guess

dual terror is a miles better option.

  • would depend on:

    size of venue?
    type of music?
    volume of your drummer?
    any other guitarists?
    do you need clean headroom?

I gig an orange 15 watt with volume @ 10 o'clock (mic'd through the pa at unity volume to help spread the sound from my 1x10" combo).

But, I typically play small venues, in a three piece/one guitar band,  playing pop,blues-rock covers with a quiet drummer.

I could gig without mic'ing up for sure.

I rehearsed a lot with a tiny Terror 12 combo, it kept up just fine!

  • If you want to borrow one to try out for a bit, I've got one and I'm not too far away...

I've used it a couple of times in a general covers band, seemed to be loud enough but then again, we weren't raaaaawk!

If you want cheap as chips jet city is your friend here!

Personally I found the tiny terror was a bit too quiet for rock gigs. The 20w jet cities are fine! I'm just up the road near Swindon if you want to try a jca20hv

No worries - the other thing I've found with small amps is volume is very cab / speaker dependent. The jet city into their 1x12 with a fairly inefficient eminence meant the amp was working really hard - same amp into a 2x12 with efficient celestions is easily loud enough!

  • Used to play drums in a band where the guitarist used one - had no problems cutting through.

  • Not a Tiny Terror, but I have an 18w Marshall clone as backup. I've used it for the second set to make sure it still worked and it was fine, through the speaker of a 1x12 JCM900 combo. The band was a 5-piece pub-rock covers band with a noisy drummer.

    Which one
i have a closed back orange 2x12 that would give a 4x12 a good run
i gigged a tiny terror for years with my chillis tribute
I moved up to a dual terror but bear in mind I was doing a lot of cleans

I’m pretty sure this was the dual terror

Bt this was definitely the Tiny Terrie although Pa miced up

  • I used a mini stack of dual terror and 2 1x12 cabs. It was awesome.

thanks everyone.  of course the other side of the coin is to save up some gigging dough and get a s/h kemper :)
