    No life till leather
We are gonna kick some ass tonight
    We got the metal madness
    When our fans start screaming
    It's right well alright
    When we start to rock
We never want to stop again

Yeah, yeah, and they call me the wheel, I just keep going round and round s . Always annoyed me, just lazy, boring nonsense, classic Blusak...
Come to the Fretboard Northern Jam at the end of January - I’ll be playing this very song....

The thing is, I don't mind nonsense lyrics up to a point, I mean "Spoonful" what the bloody hell is that all about? but it's a great song,  I can even stand banal or lazy stuff in the right context, what I can't do with is plain factual inaccuracy.

One really gets on my nerves because we used to perform it, Smooth Operator - "Coast to Coast, LA to Chicago"

And I'm surprised Mr Hewson's got off scot free so far, no-one has mentioned "Early morning April 4th, shot rings out in the Memphis sky".  Bono at his very worst.

That's my issue with Cortez The Killer as well. It just grates because it's such total nonsense - it makes no difference if he's trying to be poetic or allegorical or whatever, it's just flat-out rubbish... the Aztecs were violent, warlike people who carried out human sacrifice - if anything they were probably worse than the Spanish.

That's true. It wouldn't have been very difficult to sing 'early evening' instead.

I think some of you are pedantic/ literal minded/ lacking in poetry. I could offer a defence of some of the nonsense but I will never be able to explain this:

T'Pau - China In Your Hand

I will spare you by not posting a sample. Google if you dare.

  • Jeez... some of you are quite miserable- to take the lyrics literally and to confabulate whether there actually was 9 million bicycles in Beijing or not...

There's a difference between poetry and just plain nonsense :).

Surprisingly for an 80s power ballad it's about Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.

Ah, but surely it could be an irritating lyric:

Lurking on the fretboard, PC keeps logging me out.
Lurkng on the fretboard, modmins keep throwing me out.
Gonna buy myself a Terry Morgan and put on a Bigsby,
See what the fuss is all about.

Ah Frankenstein! - there's another one  - in "Another Saturday Night" Sam Cook sings

Another fella told me he had a sister who looked just fine
Instead of being my deliverance, she had a strange resemblance
    to a cat named Frankenstein

    Schoolboy error.
