As the amp at low level is effectively going to stay clean, then all the gain will come from the pedal, no matter what level of gain you required - Many boost pedals won't actually provide you with any gain as such in this instance, so you will need a pedal that provides the actual gain - You've had a whole host of options recommended to you and most/many are good options to look at - Not sure what your local dealer has in stock for you to try out, but whilst I still favour a Rat, your best bet is to try 2/3/4 and see what suits you best
