Bulgin to IEC chassis socket

I have seen a drop in replacement for the old Bulgin connector but a quick google has not found a UK supplier.

Does anyone have any or know of a UK source.

I have a TUAC sstate 100W amp I want to donate but would like it in 2014 safety trim.

The TAD are quite expensive.

I've seen the same socket on eBay for a lot less money.

Thanks but I HAVE regular sockets, tis the filing I wanted to avoid! 

In any event I would not be comfortable using a cheap, unknown part for mains applications.

The socket listed in the eBay link is identical to the TAD item.

It a UK-made 10A rated socket. It has UL and CSA approvals. It is NOT a cheap "unknown" part.

The TAD and other vertical sockets actually have just the same amount of filing as any other - there's no way around it since the rectangular or pentagonal IEC shape simply does not fit through the round Bulgin cutout.

Their advantage is that they use the existing screw-holes, and cover the old panel cutout completely rather than leaving unsightly and potentially illegally/dangerous gaps at the top and bottom.

I have no issue with the filing, I don't regard that level of originality as worth preserving over using a safe and reliable connector (which the originals never were even when new) with an easily-replaceable cable.

Right then, sold! Sorry that I thought it was one that melted when you soldered it!

I did not know none of them were a file free fit! If I have to get the tools out I might as well fit what I have.

With an IEC mains socket fitted, you can then use a "decent" mains cable
