First time I heard of 'lifetime warranty' was 3M video cassettes, with an ad that had the tag line 're-record, not fade away...'

Years later I met a guy who was at 3M at that time, and they apparently had the same discussion - is it life of the owner or the tape?  Doubt many people would have bothered to try to get a replacement video cassette though, you'd probably just bin it rather than go to the bother of asking for another.

My pickups come with a lifetime warranty, and I interpret that as being if you're still living your pickups will be too.
