Indeed - their approach seems to be to simply repackage the same product in differently-sized boxes and call it "something new".

Which is exactly what I wish Line 6 would do with the Helix   smaller than LT, 6 buttons, no expression pedal, format of the HXFX but with amp modelling.  Would even take reduced FX capability and IO

For the same price - at least direct from Atomic.

I think this could solve most of the issues that people have with AA3 (limited switching capability, crazy expression pedal connections) for no more money.

...but yeah. What's coming next year? Amplifire 8? Amplifire 15?

That's what the first amplifire should have been...but with a built in expression pedal and a bigger, better screen.  Maybe they'll get there by 2020!

Had a great conversation with Tom and Marc today. Amplifire 6 has a bit more DSP (the same as the 12), two dedicated expression pedal inputs (instead of repurposing the return like on the 3), and was able to fit all 6 switches in the exact same footprint for the same price. The impression that I got was that it'll be easier to provide updates for the 6 and 12 now that they share the same DSP and platform.

With Boss now on their heels I can't see them going too well with the current screen tech.  Once the GT1000 price softens a bit there mightn't be a huge amount in it.

Helix looks like something from the future...The Amplifire looks the opposite and this means alot to punters sitting on the fence (like me)
