All NAMM’d out...

What's Hot
PC_DavePC_Dave Frets: 3410
Buggeration, I’m totally done with every single second of the day being filled with another update from some music vendor or other telling me about a new guitar that looks like one that’s been around for 50 years, or an amp I can’t afford, or another fx pedal or multi fx that will confuse me and still won’t make me sound any better.

When does NAMM finish?!?
This week's procrastination forum might be moved to sometime next week.

I’m at NAMM At the moment, what’s really hard to get across is the vast scale of this place. It truly is massive and brimming with worldwide brands. It’s an awesome experience to be part of and I’m enjoying meeting people from all over the world.

because it’s the world premier guitar show, and because it’s so expensive, everyone saves their launches for this week. I find it quite exciting, but when you look past the major brands , that’s where you’ll find the gems.

I went in 1990 - as @ThorpyFX says - it’s on a vast scale. And because it’s trade only, there are lots of name players there - I bumped into James Burton, Michael Shreive, Eric Bloom, Jennifer Batten, Tommy Tedesco, Arlen Roth, Allan Holdsworth - and quite a few others.

I’d love to go to another but my trade connection is no longer in the trade.

@ThorpyFX  I can imagine it’s fantastic when you’re actually there, but being here in shitty old Blighty and just getting emails from GuitarGuitar or GAK every minute about every new thing from Boss or Line 6, or a notification from YouTube every 6 seconds showing Captain Anderton noshing Greg Koch or someone else off, it’s just really annoying. “Here’s the Fender stand and they’ve released a totally brand new never seen before guitar... introducing the Stratocaster! An amazing revolution in guitar making, and only four and half thousand pounds!! Oh look, there’s Dan from That Pedal Show!” Nosh, nosh etc.

Nope. I reserve my right to be a miserable sod because I’m not there and I haven’t got any money to buy any new shiny wonderful things with.

    So there.

I'm (sort of) money-less too! I just like looking at nice new shiny things.

  • I’m interested in those new Ibanez AZs and will be looking to play one when they hit stores. One frustrating thing about NAMM is you get teased with all these new things but it’s weeks, perhaps months before you can try for yourself.

Maybe some anti-NAMM activists should take over the guitar area and do a Ritual Tree Sacrifice as protest.  Burning effigies of Keith & Orville Gibson and Leo Fender. :)
