Couldn’t find them, is it the IIi model?  https://en-uk.sennheiser.com/stereo-headset-travel-lightweight-px-100-iii
    yes that looks like them...
I was just reading what it says on the side of the ear piece..
it looks like this PX 100-III
    but I don't know if a 'I' is an I, an i or a 1

    anyways... they sound excellent
    my studio is dimly lit...
so I checked out my cans in better light..
    says PX 100-IIi
but even in good light it's not that easy to see the difference between a I and a i

  • SoundMagic. E10 are a good starting point.  Bargain given how good they sound.

I've got the more expensive (£65)  SoundMagic E80 now. Superb sound quality. Better in fact than the expensive "audiophile" Phonac   earphones I got a few years ago.

  • Unfortunately OP ruined this thread by imposing some sort of £50.00 budget.

I was going to create a thread or post in a thread about headphones to talk about my ones.

    £129.00
    Beyerdynamic DT100 Headphones 16 Ohm
    Beyerdynamic

My family had these as a child... To me I thought nothing of the excellent audio quality...
I remember plugging the ones I had as a child into an electric guitar and it picking up on a signal...
I must not have bought the model that does that because I tried it with my new set this week... Nothing.

    My headphones still sound great.
Comfy too. - plugs into my iPhone too... (but I see no one else with these)...

These are industrial/not commercial, and I see TV stations and radio stations (especially back in the day) with these.

What did you buy @bristol86 ?
Soundmagic E10 in the end. Do the job perfectly and money left over to replace all those broken strings

  • For people referencing this thread in the future: I was looking for some pretty neutral earphones that are not too bad for also listening to actual music (those two seem to be somewhat opposing forces).

Ordered the usual bunch to try them out: Sony MDR 7506, BeyerDynamics DT770s, ATH-M50x and the relatively unknown Shure SRH440-E.
Did a lot of "formal" testing with the usual test sounds, A/B-ing my favorite songs, trying to work with them for a whole day, etc. and in the end stuck with the Shures.

I can only recommend them. Great bang for the buck!

    Excellent choice, Sir :)
This week's procrastination forum might be moved to sometime next week.

-1 for sennheiser. Sound is great but I have had 3 pairs now. All have conked out after 2 years or so of use. Won't buy another

Nice one.  I might pick these up myself, the Betrons are weirdly balanced and fall out of my ears.

    Sennheiser are a reliable bet.
Strangely we have an "over ear headphones only" rule here- so that people can SEE you're listening to something. I have a pair of Grado SR60 headphones for work.Best. Headphones. Ever.
Do you work in a silent office? I have a pair of SR80s and by nature of an open back headphone it lets in too much outside noise.

My vote goes to the AKG Y50s

Yeah I have big ear canals.  I had a lot of ear surgery as a child and I think that may have stretched it out or something.
