What reverb?

What’s the compact reverb pedal of choice these days?

Been using a TC HoF mini on my gigging board but now have room for something like the full size Hall of Fame 2, MXR M300, Boss RV-6 etc etc.

Needs regular spring & room/hall and some big washy shimmering setting.

At home I have a Big Sky but that doesn’t come out to grotty pubs.

Ooo, that looks tasty. Maybe a bit more than I want to spend for something on my gigging board though.

I hadn't actually looked at the price of the MXR, new that's a bit more than I'd want to spend as well.

Hmmm, could well just go for the reliable and robust Boss.

The Polara is pretty handy and can be had for cheap second hand.

  • At grotty pub budgets I would look at the Polara or one of the Boss efforts. The Digitech Supernatural might do the trick too.

  • There's the brand new Fender if you wanted to be a trend setter. No Spring and not in the shops yet but glowing knobs. Glowing...ooh... :hushed:

I think it's called the Marine Layer :grey_question: about £150 I think. It has pre delay which not many pedals do and it seems to be one of the things that helps reverb be more useable live. The  HOF 2 also has it and the MASH feature gives you a few wacky noises.

Been using a strymon flint for years now, pricey but very good.  I am getting a recovery effects endless summer soon as I want some real spring reverb on my board.  Quite like an original spring theory I have to.

The flint is splendiferous. I now use a polara and it does everything i want it to. Only downside is that its hard to read the dials on stage

If you want something cheap and cheerful for 'robust' use, try the Biyang Tri-Reverb. Exceptional sounds, I was able to match exactly to the Boss Fender Reverb pedal.

Agree the flint is awesome, but, they're also 300 quid, so prob not best for cheap n cheerful pub board.

The polara is prob the best cheapish pedal that ticks the boxes. A couple mates have them and rave about them. They do sound nice. Maybe trex creamer if you can live without the shimmer?

    https://www.andertons.co.uk/tc-electronic-fluorescence-shimmer-reverb-pedal-tc199

Not yet available but cheap and cheerful with a shimmer mix knob.

These are over double the price but get good reviews and come in various flavours: Eterna Gold, Eterna standard

     https://www.andertons.co.uk/mr-black-eterna-gold-shimmer-reverb-pedal-eternagold

or the tranceportal which is a shinmer echo.

Boss rv-6 wouldnt be a bad shout either though!

I need regular ‘verbs as well as shimmer.

Watched loads of demos and the mash feature in the HoF2 might well clinch it. I’ve had the first HoF and the Trinity version in the past (both sold when I got the Big Sky), so I know where I am with TC reverbs and I do like the TonePrint functionality. That could well be the winner.

I loved the MXR M300, Polara was meh!  Neunaber wasn’t as good as the M300 (in my opinion).  Currently enjoying feature set on the HOF 2, but the MXR M300 is on the GAS list.  Regret selling that one.

I've been using a Behringer RV600 for donkeys.
Does shimmer, believe it's a Verbzilla clone.
