When do you buy guitars?

Facebook has just reminded me that I've had my Cabronita Tele for 5 years this week. Last year it reminded me I'd bought my SG in february, coincidentally 5 years to the day before I bought my Martin. So it seems I like buying guitars in February..! 

Am I the only one who has such a pattern? Or is it more "whenever I've had a drink and look at TheFB classifieds/reverb/ebay.."?

On those rare occasions when seeing a Guitar I'd like coincides with my (almost, but probably not quite) being able to afford it.

I've bought a few guitars this time of year, you can often snag a post-Christmas Gumtree bargain if you have spare cash.

I don't think I've still got any February purchases though, so perhaps a false economy!

Squier Strat - gift on my 15th birthday
Warwick Corvette - nicked from my dad's collection
Washburn N4 - bought many moons ago
Jaden Rose Driftwood Tele - an "exchange of work"
Jaden Rose Lightweight Tele - also an "exchange of work"
Jaden Rose/Salvo Reload - bought
N4/Strat hybrid - self-built

So...I have seven guitars, only two of which I've actually paid cash for.

When cashflow, reasoning  for justifying a new one, and on good terms with the wife all align, I will pull the trigger. Or not, then find a different guitar to hanker for, repeat ad nauseam

When an awesome guitar becomes available.

This is most likely to happen:
1. When someone dies.(Widows have the best guitars. They have the actual Keeper)
2. When someone retires from playing.

The best strategy to have the money available (at that moment) is to try to suppress the urge to buy guitars that someone else has found disappointing. Not easy. Maybe that is why it is called a Syndrome.
