Dodgy pot?

I have an intermittent cut out on a LP volume pot after changing the pickup running to that pot.

It sometimes cuts out at full volume and it’s always fine from there on down

Solder joints for the pickup and earths seem fine - all triple checked

What I have noticed is that the input lug on the pot has some lateral movement (ie it’s loose) and I can make this issue go away by pushing it closer to the wiper lug

Hypothesis is that it’s not making good contact with the internal conductor and a new pot is needed, but given the recent work, is there something from the school of bodged jobs which may be another cause?

Fairly common problem. Get a pair of fairly fine-nose pliers and squeeze the terminal rivet hard onto the track board - that should fix it.
