My dad still lives in the house I grew up in. But since my mum died in 1993 it never felt like home. I live hundreds of miles away and haven't been in the house for years (have seen my dad in other locations). 

A few years after my  mum died my dad remarried. To someone who was not a very nice person. That accelerated my disassociation from my childhood home.

I suppose there's a chance at some point in the coming years I'll own that house. But I doubt I will ever sleep under the roof again. So many fond memories of the place, but also too difficult without mum.
