Tried out a lot of Boss pedals over time and this is my preferred setup. It was a toss up for compressor between CS-1 and 2 but I slightly prefer the extreme optical compression sound over the softer but sweeter CS-2. The Dynamic Filter is not common but it's a real gem for guitar and bass.

  • I've got the TU-2, DD-6 and NS-2. The rest are other brands. Some are good and some aren't as doing the same thing, I think with Boss they're just built well and usually reliable!

    I couldn't live without my FZ2, BD2W and DD2. So good I have 2 of each.

I also really like the MD2 for certain things.

    Love my DD500!

In fact, I have a lot of Boss pedals on my board however most are “utility pedals” with only 1 fx pedal, the previously mentioned DD500

Ive got a volume pedal, RC3 looper and a good ol TU3

The rest is fancy pants boutique stuff

For funk rhythm playing I've been round the houses with compressors and come back to my CS-2, loved the sound of my DM-2 but really wanted a longer delay time, the DM2W is just the job

I like the cs2/cs3 pedals. They only do one thing, and it's pretty squishy, but it sounds really good. I'd take one over a dyna comp, but it's not really a fair comparison as they sound quite different and do different things.

Boss isn’t a cool brand, that’s where the problem is. There are no bragging rights on a online forum for a board of boss pedals.

Sound wise and durability wise you have no issues with Boss, they are great. Buy with confidence and enjoy them.

The BF-2 I don’t know quite why this pedal gets the love it does. I’m no Flanger expert I just prefer the EXH flavour of Flanger.
