I remember in 2005/6 Coda selling off a load of Masterbuilts for Fender at £1995....the '55 Strats and Proto Reverse Strat.
That first batch was 58s and R Protos (about 8 - 12 of each, or thereabouts).  The discounted 55s came into stock a year or two later.
Sorry... 'Pedantic' is my middle name!
Which one did you buy - that you didn't bond with?

    Right.  Ignorance admission time.

While these all look gorgeous, can anyone explain to me in words of one syllable why/how these R8 jobbies are (at least) £1k 'better' than my LP Standard (2003 model, if that makes a difference): they all look virtually identical?

    - confused, of that London

I'm so glad I don't really like flame tops....so much cheaper and the understated thing is cool.

Nor do I. When I bought my LP it was the plainest on in the shop. Plain ones work harder where it counts, ones that look good tend to take it for granted.......

I wonder if Gibson are issuing subsidies to (some) dealers for sold items. e.g. Dealer pays £2.5k to Gibson for item, if item sells dealer claims £250 back off Gibson. This a) helps Gibson liquidate their stock quicker as it incentivises lower prices at the dealer's end b) shifts risk to dealer if sales dry up

I'm surprised Andertons didn't jump on this. Peach seem to have become the main dealer for these deals and I like that because I feel I get a better service from a smaller more specialised store.

Not only that, but now Andertons are such a huge company, they've scaled back the offers somewhat now every knows who they are....

Anderton's hardly has any Gibson Custom stuff in stock at all at the moment. Better to give it to a dealer who actually cares about the brand & the product and is doing more for them. Was probably "offered" rather than "taken" is what I'm suggesting.

Was in GG Edinburgh the other day - always get good service - bought my Guthrie Charvel and Axis in Edinburgh and my Suhr Tele in the Glasgow one - all the guys are great players and never had any issues - they do not do good trade ins tho - and they do 25% commission sales if you put your guitar in there - to be fair they handle the pics and have it on a national website and send it etc (plus they handle the money so it's safe) but it's a decent wad of money to lose.

A couple of the guys were trying out all the new LPs and one was pretty keen on one of them even tho he's got a cracker already - there's some big LP fans in there and they know their stuff - they also are not bullshitting me cos they know I'll never have a Les Paul lol (even tho my dad sneaked Gibson as my middle name when he registered my birth...) :)

Gorgeous .. that would be my ideal look for an LP.

Very similar to the 60's necks on my previous LPs maybe a hair deeper TBH, thats what sold it for me, 59 neck on a plain 58 body

FFS, Can someone please delete this thread! I'm getting no work done between checking back on peach and GG and looking at this. Think my willpower has just about gone.
Mrs O is going to kill me.... Was trying to explain to her how much of a bargain and investment one of these would be last night.
