WTB - Vintage (1961-1966) Gibson SG Special OR Epiphone Coronet

Hey all,

I currently have a 1969 Gibson SG Junior with a vibrola, but I've been thinking about upgrading to a 2 P90s version of the guitar so I am now looking to buy a Gibson SG Special with P90's, preferably with the small pickguard (so I assume it would be pre 1966), and a vibrola. Not really looking for a perfect collectible piece since I wanna play it live and use it a lot so I'm open to player grade stuff. 

Probably not gonna buy it in the next following days since I would have to sell my Junior first, but it would be great to keep an eye on one!

Just saw this one yesterday, lovely guitar and it looks amazing. I'm more of a P90s guy, do you guys know if it would be possible to swap that single coil pickup for a P90, or is it gonna be too much work not worth it?

I had a 1965 Olympic just like the one being sold. The guy I bought it from replaced the melody maker pickup with a lollar p90 but it was the same size as the original pickup, meaning no additional routing. It sounded amazing. So that’s an option, not sure how much it would cost but I’m sure there’s local pickup makers who could hook you up.

I think you can buy a p90 but in a single coil size which should slot in with no routing needed. Alot of people did that with Melody makers.

There's an Epiphone Coronet at Phil's Vintage Guitars in Thame at the moment, in the Gibson section. It's £3450.
