So you reckon Ash for the body wood.
The story goes he didn't build it to sell it. He has passed away hence this guitar was sold to me by a good friend of his.
Looks ace - looks even better in the flesh, and the join - you really do have to look for it (yes, 2 piece).
Is it standard practice to keep the neckplate & screws with the neck or the body?
Will I scupper my chances of selling the body if it has no neck plate?
Note - the neck plate does have a number on it [35770] ... but I don't know what it refers to ... it doesn't say Fender on it.
And
A potential buyer has an interest in the block & the trem arm.
If I sell like this, would it be okay to sell the other bridge components (springs, saddles etc) separately?
Don`t think the neckplate really matters, they`re easy to get hold of and you only
have parts, not an original guitar !
What does the body weigh ?
Any reason why? Do the bridge plate, saddles, springs & claw not sell easily on their own. The potential buyer wants only the block and trem arm. I don't know the 'etiquette'. I don't want to deter potential buyers.
I've been tipped off that the neck plate number [ 35770 ] suggests it is a 1959 serial number. Either as an original (how to prove originality?) or even as a replica, does that make it worth more?
I will get back to you on that one ... it might a day or so as I need to get a soldering iron to dismantle all the electrics etc.
Update.
Block & Trem arm on hold pending further discussion / agreement.
Bridge assembly either with or without Block & Trem arm also on hold pending further discussion / agreement.
Neck plate still available with body or as a separate part.
Pickups can be sold separately or as part of a loaded pickguard.
Prices negotiable depending on the combination of parts wanted.
I have just removed everything apart from the two strap pins.
