Struggling to find 32mm slow blow fuses - am I being a doofus?!

I've been trying to find somewhere that has 32mm 0.5A slow blow fuses in stock (live in London)

Maplin only has 20mm glass fuses and lots of online guitar parts places seem to be out of stock, WTF?

If anyone has a reliable source for simple ruddy fuses I would be really grateful to hear of it 'cause I'm doing my nut at the moment.

Thanks!

  • Farnell supply practically everything electrical, although the minimum order quantities can sting sometimes. I'd stick a link up but I'm on my phone and can barely operate it.:) try googling "farnell 32mm fuse" and sort by current rating.

  • Thanks for the tip NervousJohn, they only seem to have them in stock in New Jersey (Noo Joy-us-ee!) but at least I have a source where I CAN get them.

That's weird, we did those fuses when I used to work for Maplin. Though admittedly I left a few years ago and they've been moving away from components somewhat as the company is really not doing well.

  • Hi Adam_MD, the Maplin website is just showing 20mm versions and that's all I could find when I went into a store yesterday.

Bit of a shame to see how Maplin is going :(

It's why I left Maplin. They used to be a great company to work for but are massively overpriced and are being killed by Tesco and the Internet, £15 for an iPhone cable which is £1.49 on line, £60 hdmi cables! It's crazy. They're also trying to move away from electrical and pc components onto tablets etc
Most of their components aren't online either so you're better either downloading or buying the full catalogue and calling your local store after you've looked up the product code.

I bought a pack from this seller the other day - perfectly good. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171039615387?var=470252590155&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Maplin are quite an archaic place now. It's sad. Won't be long before they, and Currys PC world etc, disappear I expect - and it won't be a completely undeserved fate, what with the aforementioned £60 HDMI cables...

I agree, although I do buy stuff from them because there's one five minutes walk from the shop I work in, so if I need something in a hurry and don't care about the price - which I usually don't for small stuff - it's very handy. Assuming they have it, of course...

I can understand them dropping 32mm fuses to be honest, all modern equipment should use 20mm now, it's just things like old guitar amps which still use the big ones. I should take note of this and carry more 32mms (or as us old-timers like to properly call them, 1-1/4" ;) ) in my tool box though.

  • Big thanks to Adam_MD - I phoned around a few Maplins in London today rather than relying on the website and finally found one that had these fuses, they were not on display and they had to trawl through the back room  to find them.

My amp is back in action :D
