I just heard about this guy today.  Looked him up on Spotify, and what a breath of fresh air!

Modern indie-ish stuff with occasional shades of Jeff Buckley in the vocals and really good, relevant lyrics.  This gives me hope for the next generation - almost enough to pretend Ed Sheeran doesn't exist....
