Jimbro66 got the right circuit but the wrong cabinet (hence just one bean away). Headband... 'cos Knoppy used one on Sultans.

Yes, the headband gave me the clue and I knew he used something brown on the first album.  I must admit to doing a bit of Internet research to recall the name of it.

im not sure I can take up the baton though.  I don't really know much about amps.  Hmmmm......
