Just wondering if anyone can recommend a dealer to do a commission sale through around SW London/Surrey area?

As always, read the Ts & Cs VERY carefully.

(No local advice for you, just from two other dealers I've used elsewhere - one didn't even have Ts & Cs, and just wanted me to go on his word.)

  • I’ve sold a couple of guitars on commission with GuitarGuitar. Their cut was 20% of the selling price, if I remember rightly (it’s a while ago since I did this).

Yeah... and they have a well established customer base. I suspect they may be able to sell good items for a bit more than some shops may be able to achieve.

Charlie Chandler is probably the best.

Guitar Classics take a smaller commission but their footfall is not high.  A bit slow to update the website, but does seem to be a really nice guy who runs it.

Based on this thread I would avoid New Kings Road:

Ts & Cs may have various clauses which allow the dealer to nickle and dime various expenses out of YOUR end. "Buyer wanted a different string setup, so we've charged you for that."

And in one case (not mine) the dealer named on the commission paperwork signed by the owner was different to the name above the Denmark Street shop. The former (a Ltd company) then went bust, before paying the owner his money, while the shop just continued to trade as normal.
