I purposely put a shit photo with no description and went on looks alone on all the others. Have a feeling it may have got a different response with an arty (decent) pic and description.

Wonder how many think "oh another Strat" then read its an original '54 and react accordingly?

I was about to post a picture of this amazing Parker, but then people will say I'm not taking it seriously...
He had a signature Epiphone, in if I remember correctly Man City Blue...
I remember one of the puppets playing a Burns.

My personal 'most interesting' guitar is @lasermonkey 's Pawn Shop bass VI. That I really like.

I’ve played one of those, and it was actually really quite nice. I had no need at the time so passed on it, but it really would have been cracking for that Cure baritone type of vibe.

I think mine has the most LOLs...
I think I can argue that...do you have a link?

correct.. I'm short of that with mine.... only 60

My swirl strat is lagging a distant 3rd with 55
Not the most LOL's but the worst LOL/WOW ratio (35/2 = 17.5) appears to be my Gordon Smith Graf Deluxe! (see p.6)

    Maybe it's the photo...

It's only got five strings... and three of them are G.

Thanks. I hardly ever play anything other than the Thinline, the 61 strat and the 58/59/65 Bitsa Tele.

    Conclusions one can draw:

    1. Gold tops are loved, flamey bursts are not. (surprising!)
    2. Strats and Teles rule.
    3. People don't like blue guitars
    4. People don't like green guitars

Wis'd, I put a crappy pic up of my Strat and it had way more LOLs than WOWs last time I looked.

It makes no odds to me, I've been playing primarily pre-CBS Strats, both mine and others for nearly 40 years, and my drab-looking CBS-necked bitsa is the best Strat I've ever played.

Yeah - and he used it to great effect as well. I think it’s a shame there’s not more use of the format tbh as it’s a great bridge between bass and guitar and imho really adds something.

Youve got me thinking now... aaagh!

    Seems about right. I'd add:

    5. Semis are less polarising. Most like them despite colours
    6. Attractive human in picture with typically disliked guitar makes model well liked.

  • It's really interesting seeing the guitars, and reading everyone's comments about it.

I've found that I don't fully understand why I do or don't like some guitars, based on the photos alone: I've found myself liking some then not liking other almost identical ones...

Very surprised about @Jonathanthomas83's blue Les Paul though, I think that's stunning! (But then my guitars have all got way more lols than wows, so that shows where my tastes sit in this forum :)
Too much gain... is just about enough \m/

I'm probably the only member of this forum mentioned by name in Whiskey in the Jar ;)

And as we're all a bunch of nerds obsessing over guitars on the internet its probably best to go against this particular grain  ;)

  • Somewhat surprisingly to me, my lol/wow ratio is very finely balanced which being a libra is somewhat satisfying. I would have thought boat anchors and silly kids guitar would be uniformly lol’d.

I'm quite surprised by the number of LOLs on that thread.

Maybe I'm not as mean-spirited as I thought I was.  I'm happy to WOW something if I like it, but I can't actually bring myself to LOL at somebody's pride and joy.

….unless someone shows up with something from the Peavey PXD series.
