I've bought more stuff than I've sold this year mainly due to the Gibson offers.

I seem to remember seeing a thread at the start of 2018, where the general consensus was to downsize and simplify rigs this year.

    Out :

I think in the new year I’m going to sell off all my Electric guitars (bar one)  and amps and effects .

Might get a Helix to replace them but other than that I’m more about the Acoustic stuff these days.

    IN!

    Gibson Les Paul Tribute

    PRS SE Bernie Marsden

    Oil City Mighty 90 pickups

& Bare Knuckle Mule pickups (present from the Mrs to celebrate the birth of our son :D)

OUT - nothing, ever! Never get rid of guitar gear!

The plan is that my 2019 year in gear will be "zero" for "In" and "Out" but we'll see if I manage that...

P.S. Some of you guys go through a LOT of gear!!!

  • Out:

-Ibanez UV7BK (Green Dot one). Got it to do a job, lovely guitar, but someone on here was after one and will use it more than me now so I was pleased to pass it on.
-Jem BSB. Much loved but now unused.
-Engl SE head. Have Axe-FX, no more need for amps.
-Fernandes Ravelle Elite. Decent, but again, unused.

    Out (pending sale):

    -PRS CE22
-that Ibanez one with the Korg pad built in. Had to try it but time to go.
-Digitech Freqout. Not going to bother with pedals again. It was great but I never used it.

    In:

-Strandberg Prog 7. What extended range guitars should be!
    -Lots of plectrums.
    -Many strings.

A *lot* of “outs.” Too many to remember at the moment tbh. Probably at least 15 - everything from PRS SE to Gretsch Pro Line to Fender CS to a couple amps. The philosophy at the beginning of the year was to simplify and improve... Believe I’ve done that successfully!!

    Ins:

    Deimel Firestar
    Gibson Custom R8
    Fender CS Tele w/Bigsby
    Fender “Exotic” Reclaimed Pine Strat
Godin 5th Ave TV Jones Ltd
    Taylor 322CE 12-fret
    Marshall AF50D
    Knaggs Tuckahoe (just arrived!)
    a few pedals

Got sick deals on all of them except the Knaggs - just wanted to get an early SN one quickly as I’ve been wanting them to do an offset for years. Sold a Wood Library PRS and a CS Strat to fund it and all I can say is “worth it.”

Next year will be more “out” and maybe none “in”... really need to level this all off.

Bit of a thin year: (EDIT: on reflection it wasn't so thin at all)

    Out - Nowt

    In

PRS S2 Vela Semi-Hollow Reclaimed Wood
PRS SE SC Soapbar P90 in cherry (s/h)
Gibson LP 60s reissue Lemondrop (s/h)  (a bargain - needs rewiring)
    B&G 'Lil Sister Custom (s/h)

Few pedals for a new small board
Imagine something sharp and witty here ......

@munckee nothing like it, you could try a Gretsch Corvette with filtertrons, I was no so impressed by the budget jets though. You should go to a good shop and try them all out. ATM a Starla is more my taste as it's more ergonomic.

    And an SLO100

My first new gear in years. Unfortunately the effect is rather spoiled by stoopid photobucket watermarks......

In and out. Tc phaser and some of the mooer pedals.

My main purchase was the helix hxfx. That has been to my surprise a real keeper

  • Not been too bad this year;

    Out;

    Fender CS Deluxe Strat
    Poole Custom Tele
    Kemper/FS/Xitone

    In

    Yamaha SA2000S
    Don Grosh Retro Custom Ash/RW
    Don Grosh Retro Custom Alder/Maple
    Fender CS Tele
    Carr Rambler
    Cornford Harlequin
    Louis Electric Deltone
    Marshall 1960a
    Fryette PS2
    Wizz Pups
    Too many pedals to list..

Difficult to pick a highlight out of the inbound gear but the Tele's up there as I'd been searching for the spec I wanted for about a year and was giving up hope when great folks at TFB found 'the one'. Interesting 90% of my activity was through the members of this forum!

As for next year I've got a Suhr SL68 itch I'm going to have to scratch and some more pedalboard action planned but hopefully that will be it! Maybe I'll spend some time learning to play the thing at some point :)

    In - nothing

    Out - nothing.

If I can't make a decent stab at playing with what I already have no amount of buying, selling, trading will do it for me.

    In:

    - Gibson SG standard (it will arrive next week)
    - ESP KH2
    - Marcus Miller Sire bass (needed a cheap bass for the office)

If I’m lucky, I will get a Jaguar or that Suhr JM that I saw yesterday here.

    Out:

    - PRS McCarty Soapbar
    - ESP KH2
    - Musicman sub bass (almost, pending collection from the buyer

Big change is that I don’t feel my Power Jet as number one anymore.

Im back to the Tele and play it most of the time.

  • Out:
    I haven't sold a guitar for over 30 years!
Several pedals as part of a switch to an MFX-based board.

    In/Out:
Boss GT-100 - an experiment to see if I can get sounds out of an MFX and be happy about it...  I could, but wanted to keep playing through an amp.

    In:
Epi/Dobro Hound Dog Deluxe resonator - and I really enjoy playing it
RC-3 Looper - not spent enough time with it
HX FX - going well so far...

Squier VM Jazz bass (5 string). Not totally gone yet, but on long term loan to our bass player, which will probably become permanent.

    In
    Hodrod Deluxe IV amp
Squier VM PJ bass (4 string) - much happier with 4, rather than 5, strings
Misc: picks, strings, slides, clip on tuners
Most of my gear purchases exist in the virtual world:
    SONiVOX Harmonica - VSTi
GSi VB3 II Organ - VSTi
Steven Slate 5 drums - VSTi
    BFD3 drums - VSTi
AAS String Studio VS-3 - VSTi
    Helix Native - VST
