Seems like some of the music was chosen as a political statement by Sadiq Khan.

He should concentrate on trying to figure out how to fund Transport for London properly after his ridiculous 4 year fares freeze when inflation is relatively high by recent standards, and staff had a 4 year pay deal linked to inflation.

I just love Khan's shit .. 'London is one of the greatest Cities in the World ..' .. he obviously hasn't travelled that much. It doesn't feature in most top 20 lists. And given the current crime rate who the Hell wants to visit. Arrogant crap .. I can think of at least 20 cities I've visited that I'd rate above London.

The Telegraph asked it's readers to rank the cities they've been to .. London ranked 47 out of 50. As for the EU they couldn't give a shit about London ... the UK's decided to leave. Does he think London will get some special treatment? The man's deluded.

To be fair, it does feature in many high profile lists. Since you selectively picked a list to suit your narrative, I'll do likewise.

But Time Out has an axe to grind. My 'selective list' was voted for by the public who read the Telegraph.

In my view London wouldn't make my top 20. It's overcrowded, polluted and over-priced.

    Familiarity breeds contempt.

Most of the Telegraphs readers will either live in London, in which case they will know London well enough to vote it down, or they will live elsewhere in Britain, in which case they will know London well enough to vote it down.

I would imagine the same poll conducted in The New York Times, Der Spiegal, or Le Monde would have London finishing much higher, proving once again that foreigners know nothing, and it is a shame that the Empire is no longer around to correct them.

On classical music I see no reason to assume it is dying. It seems healthy enough to me.

Or it could be Telegraph readers tend to be well educated and therefore earn enough money to enable them to travel the world and experience other cities. And from the comments section I don't think the majority of readers are from London. Many of the online readers are expats or are Brits working abroad.

I agree with your classical music comment.

I'll only go to classical concerts now if it's the original line up.
Tipton is a small fishing village in the borough of Sandwell.

Lots of modern composers and Hans Zimmer often turns up in London with a symphony orchestra to play his film music.

In 2016 over 19 million tourists visited London .. that's not in dispute. You can't judge a city unless you've been there .. London has a lot to see. That doesn't stop it being overcrowded, expensive and for some not a nice experience. I bet visiting London is on a lot of people's bucket list. I also suspect that many of the Japanese tourists will only spend a few days in London before heading out to see the rest of the UK.
