I have a laptop on the way. Our Macbook is dying, and me and the wife were annoyed with each other about usage - she wanted to read blogs about cats, I wanted to read anti-feminist ranting on Reddit. It's her laptop anyway, so screw it. Got myself a little something.

It's not here yet, should be tomorrow I should think. It's one of these:

It's only an i3, but it should do the vast bulk of what I want it to do. The i3's are supposed to be twice the CPU resources as the Core 2 Duo, but I don't know coz I just jumped straight to i7 when I upgraded my main rig.

So yeah... tech blather. Anyone got an i3? How'd you get on with it?

The work lappie I'm on now is an i3.  However, seeing as I only ever use it to browse the web or run Outlook, I'm hardly stretching it.

It does what I want.  Actually, that's no fecking use to you at all is it ? :-)

I can't comment on the i3 but I bought an i7 Lenovo laptop last year to replace an aging desktop pc.

I've always had reservations about laptops but blimey it's a great bit of kit. I won't buy a desktop again, that's for sure!

Best upgrade for any laptop is replace the HD with an SSD. I even invested my own money to upgrade my work laptop.

Looks good, I have to give my work laptop back in a week, so will need to buy my own, that one looks good for the money.

Drew, that's the exact same model that my daughter has (colour aside), I think - she gets on great with it, no complaints. Even though it's got the integrated graphics, she plays World of Warcraft on it quite happily. Rather too much, in fact, but that's no fault of the computer itself

I've managed to steer clear of WoW, coz I know I'll lose my entire life to it. Took me long enough to lose my Civ4 obsession!

Smart move. However, the point is that even the integrated GPU is pretty decent. Surprisingly so, in fact Of course, the fact that it's running at today's shit standard resolution (1366x768) helps it along somewhat...

Has arrived. Not much chance to play with it yet, but how on earth do I make the mouse less retarded? Scrolling with two fingers up should not scroll downwards. Basic fucking PHYSICS!!
