Fender supersonic 60 MK1 vs MK2 Advice

Hey guys!

Does anyone here know the diference between the Mk1 and Mk2 version of the supersonic amps?

I can't find much info on the web but am seeing secondhand ones being described as mk1

Fundamentaly is none...but some say is a capacitor in there that has a different rating (??) oh and has a different logo on faceplate...

If you wanna hear a SS60 Mk1 then seems it worked well enough for Joe Walsh at the Beatles Ed Sullivan Show 50 year reunion - so will for you too...

I've decided that its definitely  the amp i want but probably in head format. And to top it all off my Mrs did a photo shoot at Steve Winwoods studio this morning and there in the background was a supersonic 60 combo so that sort of sealed the deal for me

@57deluxe  Looks great buddy. 

What speaker did that combo come with as stock, a V30?  I have my eye on a head but will go for the combo should i not get it as i need to move quickly as i start rehearsals next sat.

I have seen a Mk1 Supersonic 60 Combo at £599. Does that seem a good price to you?

Very interested in this myself as it is right at the top of the shopping list (the subject, not the combo for sale!). £599 is half the cost of a new one so sounds fair. I presume that they are made in the US rather than Mexico?

I'm unsure myself as to where they're made. I think our man 57deluxe may know.

I hate lugging combos about so hoping on a head really.

I had a sneaky peak at the manual, the head is 10kg less than the head. Even so, at 24.5kg, the combo isn't exactly lardy (5kg less than my Cornford Roadhous 30!).

I think my old Cornford Mk50 head weighed in at 25kg on its own so not too bad.

Is a weighty beast but it does have 11 valves in it plus a full length reverb tank!

IT is LOUD... but good bloody good tones still when dialled low

Did your mk1 have a V30 speaker in it?

Just won a supersonic 60 head on the bay for £435.

Chuffed at that price

...interesting... I snagged mine brand new with Fender warranty about 4 years ago on ebay but direct from a UK dealer for £501, same dealer I also got my Super Reverb new with warranty for £599 two years ago  and a PRS SEII for £265 new old stock! Is sad that they went into receivership last autumn - just as I was lining up a B Stock Fender US Telecater for £249! Damn I miss those days!

Certainly gone up in price since then. With the head now £1099 and the combo £1200
