If you can't straighten the neck is there anything that can be done?

Any ideas what would be 'better' (I know, opinions etc) out of

    Active Corvette
    Active Fortress One
    Passive Fortress One ?

It's mainly going to be used for recording...

Corvette. That was basically the bottom of the original German range model until they brought in the Fortress as an even-more-budget model.

Having said that, there probably won’t be a massive difference in quality, and one might suit you better in terms of neck profile, wood choices, etc. My first Warwick was a passive Fortress with maple body and maple neck. I couldn’t get on with it, but the guy who bought it from me loves it and swears he will keep it forever.

Everyone knows if you want a bass you should buy a Fender Precision
    FTFY

Even I have to agree with @Bridgehouse on that ;).

Seriously, you’d need to try each of the basses - some old germans have a massive neck, some very slender - you’d really need to try them to see which will suit you best. My #1 Warwick has a massive neck, which I love, but others really love the thin necks.

I have big hands so I'm hoping that I'll be Ok, I found one on Facebook Marketplace (Corvette) which is a 2hr drive, there's a fortress about 20 miles away and another fortress on ebay that I'm watching so I'm going to struggle to try them unfortunately , my Ibanez 5 string (which looks to be sorted fingers crossed) has a thin neck so a bit of variance can't be a bad thing....

Doesn’t have to be a Fender tho :)

If it's primarily recording, I'd throw my hat into the 'precision' style camp. Nearly every session bass player has one for a reason, even if it's not thier favourite instrument.

About active pickups. Though I don't like them, they do have one superb advantage. They have a clean signal.
When I wanted to record unaccompanied electric guitar, I fought hums & clicks all the way. But when using active circuitry, it became as quiet as a mouse.
I sometimes think, therefore I am intermittent
