It's called a Metal Distortion and that sound is available thanks to the mids control but it also works as a more normal distortion - actually, with the Gain kept under 12 o'clock it reminds me of the Barber Gain Changer, it's a lot milder distortion and smoother sounding than the name would imply. I thought I'd try it out as I was so impressed with their compressor and I'd never found a distortion sound I was truly happy with. But then I found the Nano Metal Muff which does exactly what I was looking for, so this became surplus to requirements.
