True Gibson haters never owned one in the first place

Honestly, they don't make a single guitar I've ever wanted to own. Epiphone did - the Del Rey - but not any more. Still, that doesn't make it any less sad that they've doubled down on the fuck-ups from the last 10-15 years by trashing the one thing they had left - the good will from the public.

I don't hate Gibson for the guitars they made after 1970. I am just not particularly interested. So I am unlikely to buy a new R9 (PF fingerboard as standard according to Guitar Magazine) so that I can sell it in protest.

In fact, if they end up with a sensible strategy that leads to Replica buyers telling the builder to put his or her own name on the headstock, I will support that. (They have left it too long to go after Tokai and I can't see that happening).

However, they have made some great Re-issues after 1980. Especially the Pre-Historics which are under rated IMO.

I don't understand why any musician would hate the guitars that Gibson made before 1970, or why they would attempt to re-write history by pretending that those guitars had anything other than a huge reputation, which was created by word of mouth (compare and contrast). And which was 100% deserved.

I often wonder if we will see an attempt to trash the reputation of Ferrari's "golden era" of car production

which will (obviously) take place in Cyberspace.

And what the appropriate response to that  should be?

Then you can ship it off to a makeover guy to stick a correct fretboard on it, at a considerable extra cost, surely they could've just used good sustainable indian rosewood

Is this certain?  Peach - for example - have 2019 R9s on their site and they don't seem to have pau ferro boards.  Or are they talking about next year?
