They look like the sort of thing you'd see at a craft fayre.

Not for me but Fender obviously think that enough people will like them.
I think they look great and so did my friends I showed but then again, they aren't guitar forum people with a very stubborn preconception about what guitars should look like :)

Well we can’t all like the same thing, I’m sure that Fender will be okay about me not buying one.

  • They'll be alright when they're finished.

  • I like the look of them...……...of the 3 in the OPs pics, the JM has came off worst with wood selection though.

I was under the impression it was just a one-off anyway rather than being produced for general sale.

    Could be wrong.

I only quoted you with the reply because you had the positive part about others liking it, wasn't painting you as stubborn or anything :)

If it had a gloss finish maybe...? I'm not sure.

I don't dislike it, I just don't Fender Custom Shop prices like it.

Agreed! They did a reclaimed pine ltd ed run in the AM Pro sort of price range and they were quite nice, dark wood and had knots in it (although the neck was horrible). I do quite like it, and if it sounded and played fantastic I might part with £1500 for one, but I wouldn't be paying full whack CS prices!

Any idea how much the proper one-off special finish CS guitars are? Like this kind of thing where one of the builders makes it himself.

Can imagine the price would be ridiculous to anyone who has to think about price.

  • My first thought was that they look like shit.

    And my second.

    And my third.

Its a “No” from the H7 camp...

The look of a guitar is important to me and old cheap knotty bits of wood for a body just don't cut it.

    Are they old and/or cheap?

It sounds like you think they've been recycled or something and they're urging people to ignore the bad looking wood.
