Q Any reason not to use a loop switcher as a kill switch?

Bit of lateral thinking has led me to the idea of using a loop switcher as a midi controlled kill switch.

Scenario is a stereo pedal with no pan control and I would like to run the left and right outputs through the loop switcher to give the ability to mute either side before it gets to a stereo return (Helix).

L of pedal goes into loop 1 (either side as it's passive path) and then onto the Helix's return, same thing with the R out using loop 2



Would that work? If not any way of doing it with the above circuit?

The reason I'm not just controlling what comes in where using the Helix's returns is that I'm merging the outputs of multiple stereo pedals using a RJM Mini Line Mixer.
