Nut Size for Wraparound Bridge

Hi there,

I am probably being dim...

I need to know what nut size (E to e spacing) i need for a 25.5 inch scale guitar with a wraparound bridge with an E to e of 51.82 mm.

I currently have at TUSQ Jumbo Gibson Nut with an E to e of 36.20 mm. Can i use this Nut?

Sorry if its an obvious question!

Lolz!

when building a guitar you can use whatever nut spacing you want.   but you need to draw it all out full size before you cut the fretboard

i have used nut widths between 38 - 50mm, but generally about 42 - 44 is best - that's the whole width, not the e to e spacing.

You want approx 3 mm either side of the outer strings, which puts your gibson nut bang in that 42-44mm  full width

you know your bridge spacing, you know your nut spacing, you know how far apart they are... draw it out full size and it will tell you all you need to know

  • Thanks WezV,

I appreciate that... so i can just make a scale drawing and as long as its all lined up correctly the stings will be evenly spaced and parallel... i guess.

    Cheers
