Andy Gill, guitarist and founding member of Gang Of Four, dead at 64.  Massively influential band, and his defiant, angular, choppy deconstructed style put him at the top of the punk guitarist pile for me.  A big, big loss, and way too young.

The Entertainment and Solid Gold LPs are utterly unfuckwithable.  Shit, I've even got time for their "misfires" (including Hard, and later-period stuff like Shrinkwrapped).  This is a personal fave, History Of The World, from the Songs Of The Free LP...

Sad news. One of the greats of his time. For me To Hell With Poverty was the highlight of many club nights in the 80's. Absolutely incendiary.

That's my favourite - I've never found it on YouTube before (and if you look, that was only uploaded a couple of weeks ago). Completely changed everything for me, seeing that. Precision noise. Fantastic stuff.

When you think about the sheer volume, depth and variety of music from 76-80 it really boggles the mind. Something new and interesting every week, or so it seemed.
