I've always said it that the best sound for drive is an amp working hard. That's my set up basically. However, to add flavour occasionally it's good to have some modulation just to flavour. Just be careful to not over do it. As with everything in life

That's all you should need. Almost. Phasers can be a little too much sometimes but have you ever hear the subtle liquid shimmer from a phase 45?It's one of those 'always on' Modulation pedals that combines the best of vibe and phase. You need one. 2. Stage loveliness.
