    Not sure about that one - it sounds like it's just waiting for a resolution to me. I can't help thinking that the minor 6th chord is the saddest one. Sad but sweet at the same time, very much like myself.

    Disappointed - I was hoping it would at least be a Dm of some sort.
    I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

    Only thing sad and morose in that video was Tom. The chord, not so.

    Cheer up, Tom.

    For me it’s an Em with the pinkie holding down high e on 3rd fret. Follow with an Am and weep

    I don't find that sad particularly, it has a wistful hopefulness.

    I would have thought the correct chord for these times would feature at least a flat fifth and perhaps a flat sixth and flat third to add to the general feeling of portent

    So sadness isn't looking for resolution?

    Wistful, but very pretty. I'm drawn to such things.

    That's lovely. Is that Gminor sharp 5th?

    It has a D in it (3rd fret B string) so it'd be considered a Gm b13 (or flat 6 depending on how you think about it)

    @danowens @DB1 ;
    The D is the 5th and it's not doing much work except establish G as the root. The sadness comes from the flattened 6th which anchors this firmly in the Aeolian mode which is the saddest of them all. As for notation I'd call it a Gmb6 since the intention is for it to sound "modal" and Aeolian has a b6 not a #5 (yeah, I know).

    Just for fun: I actually usually use a voicing like 3x13 as a 1st inversion of a Drop 2 voicing like Freddie Green used to do. 3x1333 is a really nice Ebmj7/G voicing as the major 7th isn't stuck out at the top, but also isn't voiced too low!
