5 3/4 inches long. Slight variability in width, but basically 4 1/8 inches (plus/minus 1/16) - looking at my three Gibson Les Pauls. I have an Epiphone Les Paul , which is less wide at 3 3/4 inches.

Can't swear to the consistency, but this is a Studio LP Reissue.

I don't know what you intend to do with the measurements, but bear in mind that the sides are not parallel.

Realising that from the photos and the plan that Steve posted. 

I’m planning to add a control plate to a guitar and had been thinking about cutting the hole then making a plate to match the hole. Now realised that getting an off the peg plate and cutting the hole to match that makes way more sense. Just trying to figure out which plate to use.
