What value pot for audio taper on a modern Gibson P90 ?

I recently bought an SG Juinior 60's which is a right little belter except for the frigging useless log taper volume pot.

I always change these on my Humbucker Gibsons for 500K Audio taper BUT this is a P90 so what value Audio taper pot should I use 300K or 500K ??

Any advice gratefully received.

Cheers, Reg

  • Log taper *is* audio taper.

So if it comes with log, it's either a taper you don't like or you prefer linear taper.

There is log and log taper, and pots have tolerances. So if you pay more, you can more finely tune the audio taper.

I like boggo ones, though prs guitars always amaze me at how much better they are...

300k or 500k work great, 300k would be a bit darker. Not sure how much so, though.

  • Cts is the go to brand, but plenty here really rate the bourns ones (axesrus have some iirc).

Bourns are supposedly made better. :)
