Hi thought I'd share this, I've just finished this and my vision of a modern les Paul, it's a model idea I've been wanting to try and it came out better than I thought it would, it's a short scale, alder body with flame maple neck, zirocote fretboard
Mojo pickups overwound bridge with his staple pickup and they balance brilliantly
I'll be taking this to some shows whenever they happen and feel free to comment
I'll get sound clips up soon

Awesome guitar Darren. Love the burst on the back of the neck and the contouring.

Yep, love the “wear burst”. We need sound clips of those pickups.

Marvellous creation there that! When you say short scale, how short? 24" or 24.75?

I'll listen out for the clips, bet it sounds great.

Sound clips are definitely needed, this thing is fantastic

It's not a wear burst, it's my nod to those old sprayed bursts on gibson acoustics, just suits a flame maple neck, I did my 2nd acoustic like this year's ago

I always call a Gibson fretscale short but I use the old vintage one, I think the closest modern scale is 24.562

  • That's beautiful work. Not sure about what it is, but you've done a fabulous job of putting it together.

Sorry if that sounds like I'm damning you with faint praise, it's not meant to sound like that at all, my apologies if it does.

It's a scratch build start to finish by me, I had this planned ages ago and will be a new model in my line up now I've tested it out

Probably going with Evo 2 as a model name

I love that! It reminds me of my Fano, which (incidentally) has been the one that I've gigged the most.

I'm not surprised you've gigged that the most, I've had this playing for a few days and it's so bloody good, it'll do most things, I mean I like vintage stuff and got a few of my burst builds plus goldtop kicking about but this sounds fantastic and easy to pick up and play

All I can say is it's lacking in nothing and I've got a few of my vintage builds kicking about, I'll be playing this alot

The pickups balance brilliantly, Marc is a great pickup maker

Oh, I knew you'd built it - that was why I was praising the workmanship, you've done a cracking job on that. Those joins are superb and that's a beautifully finished job.

Nice - reminds me of the Cort Sunset TC, itself no doubt influenced by Fano's work.
