I think you can fit a Stratocaster neck to a telecaster.

It’s the other way round that is difficult - Since the heel of the telecaster neck has square edges that exceed the dimensions of the rounder neck pocket on a Stratocaster
Yes, that's correct. A Strat neck fits easily on a Tele and just leaves small gaps. A Tele neck doesn't fit on a Strat without a bit of woodwork to either the neck or body.

Hendrix had a Strat with a Tele neck, the end of the neck was radiused to make it fit.

I love the tele customs with the CBS headstocks myself
Not sure on the 60s headstock tho, not fugly just different

Never seen that one either. Wow for ICBM
Still looks odd tho lol, whatever you need/have to get a functional guitar I guess

    I just Googled it ;).

I actually think it looks really good on the upside-down Strat. Not so keen the right way up when I've seen it...

Bizarrely I think the bigger more garish CBS stock suits the Tele better than the smaller Strat headstock.
I actually like a Suhr “beak” best of all on a Tele

That's the next alternate reality guitar sorted then.

You should email that to Fender's marketing team.

  • My Charvel had a Strat headstock, I thought it looked pretty cool... and one of the new Charvel signature models has got a reversed Tele headstock; that looks cool too
Too much gain... is just about enough \m/

I'm sure Joe Perry had a Tele with Strat neck or was it other way around?

An upside-down lefty Strat with a Tele neck was his main guitar in the Joe Perry Project.  But I'm sure he has many others!

I think he’s had one built as a tribute to that guitar

a 22 fret neck with the overhanging board will hide all trace of the pocket gap.

At the risk of being a pedant - 70s Customs had standard Tele headstocks but with Bullet truss rods - Deluxes had Strat headstocks.

    Well I finally did this:

I can’t make up my mind if I like how it looks but it plays and sounds absolutely beautiful.

The playability was a given, since I love the neck (AllParts SRO-W, ‘59 profile, jumbo frets dressed by Rexter).

and it took all of 15 minutes to swap the necks and required minimal tweaking thereafter...

Nothing wrong with that. The non-traditional pickguard shape helps I think, since it doesn’t look exactly like an ordinary Tele anyway.
