Probably a dumb question but I'm new to electrics :)

What are the 3 screws around the pickup for?

It's a Squier Telecaster if that makes a difference.

To raise or lower the height of the pickup. It sounds a bit different at different heights. There can be a 'sweet spot'

Pickup height adjustment. The great thing about the Tele is that with three screws - as opposed to the two on most other pickups - you can control the angle it sits at too, and not have it flop around. (Not that the angle makes a huge difference to the sound on a single coil!)

Be careful not to undo them too far - if the pickup comes off the bottom of them, you’ll have to remove the strings and the whole bridge to get at it and put it back. Don’t let the top of the pickup get as far down as level with the bridge plate.
