All these years and I’ve never grown tired of hearing it. Still sounds fresh now. A solid gold classic.

Hilton was my first guitar hero & “The Animals” was the first album I owned, played it to death & still have it now. Sad story about the royalties to Rising Sun tho’ .

Add me to the list of people who learned this as their first proper riff.

What a great story Cam, well chuffed for you

That's fantastic! I'm glad you messaged him about the album too. It's probably made his day as well!
Too much gain... is just about enough \m/

I'm probably the only member of this forum mentioned by name in Whiskey in the Jar ;)

He said hears it a lot that he got so many people started on guitar but he said it's always touched him deeply. And even more so the older he gets. It's a lovely way to look at it.

I gave his album 'All in Your Head' a listen on Spotify. It was described on there as a 'beautiful, enigmatic, acoustic-textured psychedelic album" - and that's exactly how I found it to be. Quirky. But worth a play if you like that sort of thing. Happily, I do. (It also reassures me a little that he might enjoy the rest of my album.)

    congratulations

am sort of chuffed myself as i got my first copyright strike on a yt video i did years ago trying to play oh well by peter green/ fleetwood mac issued by wmg (i did state in title that it was by them and was just trying to play it).

it must mean that it sounded near to the track then (obviously crap playing on my part though stil).

i will take that as a win lol

    i like cake :-) here's my youtube channel   https://www.youtube.com/user/racefaceec90

That’s so awesome,  from the beginnings of a lifelong obsession to validation for your art from the person who inspired you in the first place. Objective achieved. Fantastic

Thanks guys. @hollywoodrox, that’s pretty much hitting the nail on the head. A lifetime’s journey circling right back to the very beginning. A several-million-to-one chance at very best. It’s still making me smile... (even more than the astonishing guitar I got a few days ago in a trade for my Collings C10.) :)

Great story, Cam, and what a gent he seems  :)

I remember the very first time I heard that record - I was in Lewis's department store in Blackpool on my way to the bogs.  I was passing the music department and heard the opening bars - just electrifying!  Five minutes later I was still standing there, jaw dropped, still busting for a pee!

The following summer (1965?) I went to see them at the North Pier in Blackpool.  They did alternate Sunday nights with Manfred Mann, and I went to see both at least twice.  Oh to be 16 again!
