Yes it’s sparkly. And it’s got gold plated hardware.

But if I’d wanted something discreet I wouldn’t have been shopping for a Gretsch. I have no idea whether it sounds like a “proper” Gretsch or not but I like it, it’s fun to play, and I’m perfectly happy enjoying it for what it is rather than stressing over what it might not be…

Don't ask me, I just play the damned thing...

I’m playing a bit of Chet Atkins. Wife said it sounded legit, so this guitar must be one of those legendary instruments that will make anyone sound good :joy:

I’ve been at the York Record Fair today and have brought this gem home… hard to capture the colour on the picture, but I could swear it’s the same shade of orange mine is!! You know, ‘Tahiti Red’.

    Loving this guitar.

Looks impressive. I'm still learning about Gretsch – are those regular P90 pickups or is there any 'Gretsch convolution' being applied to them?

Those are Dynasonics ... totally different to P90s ... in fact they make P90 sound positively polite

Can't seem to put the Gretsch down. Wife says it's because it makes me sound good. I say if I sound good it's because I can't put it down. I've noticed that my fingertips are black – WTF? If this common in a new guitar?

Same with my Gretsch ... it was second hand but practically new ... the black with mine is a bit of tarnish coming off the strings. Indian Laurel fingerboards aren't dyed as far as I know.

Aye, I think I've 'cleaned' the lower fret area already. Now I need to find something else to play on the upper frets.

I believe the strings on mine are a Fender 10-46 set (based on calliper + colours).
