Logic Pro X 10.5 is out.

Big update- I am installing it now.

Key updates are Ableton style live loops, a replacement of EXS24 called Sampler, a quick sampler, Beat Creation tools (Step Sequencer, Drum Synth, Drum Machine Designer) and update to Logic remote to allow iPad triggering of Live Loops.

It is also optimised for current Mac hardware.

Go into the App Store and search for Logic Pro X to find the update.
It takes some time to pop through to the updates section.

They really thought about the Live Loops side of things.
This is going to be as good or better than Ableton Live for many people I think.
It makes Live look dated.

But they still haven't implemented plugin delay compensation for automation.
That is really shabby.

Downloaded in a couple of minutes for me, annoying as I finally bought Live last week! I think I can return it (although let's see first)

There's a lot to love there, it's not an Ableton killer for me, as I'm still finding out what it can do.
But I do feel the lack of a native step sequencer, the fact that the new launchpad came with one proves to me I'm not the only one missing it.

It is crashing for me when switching instruments in Drum Machine Designer.
Also Massive X crashes but I could be a version behind.

I guess I'm out, not showing in updates, I can see the upgrade button-but it just sits there spinning.
I am still on High Sierra, 2009 MBP, and mostly use Reaper-but I do like to dip in to Logic for the Drummer tracks, think I'm on 10.4.8, I was hoping to dip into the new sampler, but most of the new stuff does not interest me-seems to be playing catch up with Ableton for loop based creation.
I see sys requirements is osx 10.14.8 or later--I think, I'm on 10.13.8, ( High Sierra) so I think they outgrew my OS.

Yes you can’t install it on 10.13.8, unfortunately.

I'm running the latest version of Catalina, but it hasn't appeared yet for me - mid-2012 MPB. Still, I can play with Live Loops on my Garageband iPad...  :-)

Are you going into App Store, searching for Logic and clicking the Logic Pro X update?
It can take several days for it to automatically populate the Updates section of the App Store.
