Authenticating an original Gibson 'burst

I learned a few things about the original 'bursts anomalies here, especially the lack of symmetry in the original headstock shapes:

Nice one, I found that really interesting - just the sort of guitar geekery I love! Makes me glad I’ll never have the cash to get anywhere near one of these - minefield by the sound of it!

I thought that was really interesting too. More because it gives some insight into the construction techniques than because I'll need to assess one personally...

I've actually been in that shop, if it's in the same place it wasn't that big. I don't remember them having stuff like this, but perhaps I didn't look. They did have several very nice old amps though, a Reverb Rocket & at least one brown tolex Fender.

Also quite a lot of old budget guitars which I assume are now quite sought after.

Seemed an OK place & the Allparts bits I bought were of course very cheap compared to here.

I know nothing about metallurgy, but I've seen lots of sources say nickel silver is best thought of as a brass with added nickel, which isn't the same as 'nickel-plated brass', but is presumably where the confusion comes from.

As far as I'm aware it's not hot hide glue for tops it's a pf glue which makes much more sense considering it's a laminating glue and much longer open time, hot hide glue would be a nightmare for caps imo

sorry - I phrased it wrong and agree with your comments which supports the video clip - I Should have said 'interesting topic about the glue for the maple top and it is not hide glue - Or something to that effect - Thanks for my 'correction'
