I have just been reading an older post on LPF which mentions a Pete Townshend interview in which he describes asking Gibson -  in the early 70s - for another batch of SGs, and how Pete  was far from happy with what turned up. The poster says  that Pete then sent his manager out to buy every unsold Sg Special (pre Norlin) that could be found.
