We used to live next door to a German family whose surname was Kuntz.

I went to school (abroad, near the Florida Keys) with a lad called Alain Kuntz. He pronounced it Koons., which on reflection wasn't much better - especially for the local redneck community...

We had people up the road who were called Farquhar. Living in Northern Ireland, we pronounced them Forker. Or usually something else.
